The construction of Calombolo Química is in its final phase. The industrial unit, located in the municipality of Baía Farta, in Benguela Province, Angola, involves the construction of a plant for the production of caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, and hydrochloric acid. The project covers an area of five thousand square meters and has currently reached 85% physical completion, with completion scheduled for June 30 of the current year.
The ongoing works are focused on the finishing stages of the civil construction in the administrative and external areas, including offices, reception, and cafeteria facilities, as well as on the installation of plumbing, power infrastructure, and road access. Novanor will deliver a European-standard facility, equipped with world-class technology, including electrolyzers, a chemical analysis laboratory, and its own water desalination and purification system—positioning the unit as the first of its kind in Angola and the third in Africa.
The project, with a total investment of €25 million, financed mainly by German banks through Deutsche Bank, will be submitted for ISO 9001 certification, attesting to the quality of the construction and the industrial processes implemented. After the completion and handover of the facility, the unit is expected to reach full production capacity within six months, at which point it should produce two thousand tonnes of product per month.
